Wombats, Emus and Kangaroos

Today we arrived at the southernmost point of Australia, the beautiful Wilsons Promontory National Park.

The park is known for its close encounters with wombats, kangaroos, parrots, and more. Additionally, the NP has stunning mountain landscapes and beautiful beaches. We did the 'Wildlife Walk' right through the NP. We tiptoed in silence to finally see a wombat :-D.

After some time and many kangaroos and parrots, we had almost given up hope when we saw three wombats!! Simply amazing, these oversized hamsters :-) Jenny would love to have one at home :-D. We were able to take wonderful photos, everything was perfect – the sun, the light, the landscape – simply a wonderfully beautiful day =). By the way, just to be sure that our registration is still valid (we extended it from November to May), we checked it on the government's website.

We were totally shocked when it said 'unregistered, canceled, or frozen'.. so we had to call and clarify that. The government told us that we are not allowed to drive since December 30th, 2015, because there are two fines to pay (waaaat?). Well, we had to call the police and ask what we did wrong. In Western Australia, we drove too fast twice (1x 5 km/h over the limit = $182.35 and 1x 11 km/h over the limit = $300.. $300 because it was already in August and hasn't been paid since then.) Well, good to know that we are not allowed to drive at the moment. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that we were caught speeding and back then we also provided the address of our hostel, so we didn't notice anything. So we called the hostel and paid it all, so we were suddenly about $500 lighter, but what can you do.
