Tag 39: Perth - Wave Rock

Published: 20.10.2018

The family bath at the campsite has captivated our two older children. They absolutely want to splash around in the bathtub before heading east. We let them have fun, have a cozy breakfast, and get ready to leave.

We refuel and start driving. It doesn't take long and the two little ones fall asleep. Maxima catches up on her sleep deficit today, which has accumulated over the past few days. She sleeps through almost the entire journey. Our route today is very diverse: grain fields, countless straw bales, grazing sheep and occasionally horses, lots of greenery and trees, but also the well-known long straight stretches of road. Luckily, the sun is shining again and it is getting significantly warmer as we head east.

We arrive at Wave Rock at 2pm. We check in at the camping site in the shop. Michi takes the kids for a walk and I cook asparagus risotto with shrimp. Samuel and Maxima want rice pudding.

After eating, we set off. First to Wave Rock and then the Wave Rock Walk Circuit (round trip, 3.6 km, takes us 1.5 hours). Our conclusion: everything is nice to see and walk, but not a must-see/do. Since the Perth - Esperance route would be a bit long in one go, Wave Rock is a good dividing point or overnight spot. Unfortunately, there are billions of flies here again, targeting our mucous membranes. Today we unpack our mosquito net for the stroller so Elija is spared a bit.

We are back at the camp after sunset, which has filled up nicely. We have a light snack and then off to dreamland.
