Tag 24 Armenia - Yerevan and Surroundings Part Three

Published: 19.06.2022

Today I felt like going on a little trip.

After taking care of a few things, I met up with Hovig from Frankfurt am Main in the city center of Yerevan. He is one of the co-organizers of a globally active relief organization, a very pleasant person.

Through him, I also got a meaningful overview of Armenian history, particularly regarding the genocides and the conflict with Azerbaijan.

Then we drove out of Yerevan with the intention of turning into some mountainous areas.

But before that, there was a brief flash of orange light from a square box on the side of the road. The digital speedometer read 62, no idea if the light was meant for me or the Porsche to my left going faster. We'll see.

After buying some vegetables and fruits, an ideal snack for lunch in temperatures around 35°C, we turned off the main road to the right and headed into the terrain. There we came across dirt roads and dusty tracks leading to areas filled with rubble, stones, trash, solar panels, and potholes.

But somehow we managed to explore some fantastic areas by driving in different directions. By the way, we didn't make it to the mountains, the day ended in the foothills. You just can't make much progress in this difficult terrain. But you have a lot of fun and great views...

Then we returned to Yerevan and had dinner with his family.

On the way home, I passed by illuminated water fountains, a wonderful sight. Just add some music to it, and you won't need fireworks.

All in all, it was a fantastic day, despite taking off-the-beaten-path routes, we covered 104km.
