Welcome back to my life, dear readers!
My landlady, Phyllis, thinks that after the first 15 days in Cork, I can already write a book about my experiences. My brother says that in the past 2 weeks, I've experienced more than others in 2 months. It's true. Starting from the flight delay and rebooking, to the missing suitcase that showed up 6 days later, to a hospital stay and disturbance including the police in the house; well, my landlady and my brother might be right.
But let's start from the beginning: on Saturday, my landlady Phyllis took us to Cobh/Queenstown, the last city where the RMS Titanic dropped anchor. The Cobh Heritage Museum showcases the history of the Titanic, the RMS Lusitania, the Irish famine, and the diaspora, the 'emigration' of the population. I'm not a big fan of museums, but this one was really interesting and educational. Besides this museum, there's also the Cobh Museum and the Titanic Trail, as well as the beautiful St. Colman's Cathedral.

On Saturday evening, I had a slightly different experience. Dear friends, a little tip from me: if you ever have any pain in Ireland, no matter how severe it is, be prepared for a long wait at the hospital (it was 9 hours for me). But once you're inside the hospital, everyone takes care of you perfectly. And yes, I'm fine, everything is back to normal :)

On Wednesday, the Society Day took place, a small exhibition of the many societies/clubs at the university. Those who know me know that the first society I joined is the Harry Potter Society. Besides that, I'm also a member of the Cancer Society (charity events for cancer support), International Development Society, Musical Society, and Film Society. We don't have to go to all of them, it would be too difficult alongside the regular timetable :D
AND: After 13 days, I FINALLY had my first coffee. Caffeine withdrawal is definitely not for me, I now know that :)
On Wednesday, the courses finally started for me. So far, everything sounds quite interesting, I'm looking forward to the next few weeks. However, I wasn't particularly lively during it, the students living in the other half of our house don't care much about quiet hours. Partying all night is not a problem in itself. But turning up the music so loud that I can feel the bass in my room from 4:30 am to 7:00 am is not ideal. It's a good thing that no one here understands my German swearing :D The police came the next day, but that's nothing unusual here, they are around our area every evening because so many families complain about the students. Well, if you live next to the university...
At the moment, there's not much more to tell. That will change next week - I'm looking forward to it!
With much love from Cork,
xxx Danni
