Day 6 – Between Ocean Calm, Pool Brunch, and Musical Highlights 🚢🌊

Published: 24.10.2026

The day started for me at 6:50 AM with a round on the deck. Of course, I couldn't miss taking the obligatory photos from various positions. After all, I want to not only experience the journey but also capture as many beautiful memories as possible. At 7:00 AM, my coffee for early risers followed.

The East Restaurant, however, only opened its doors at 8:00 AM today. For me, it has become the preferred breakfast restaurant: manageable, pleasantly quiet, and not as crowded as some other areas on board. At the same time, the selection is good, allowing me to start the day excellently.

After breakfast, I headed up to Deck 10 to the AIDA Lounge. There is an area where music is intentionally omitted, and you have a frontal view of the endless ocean. Just sit down, look at the sea, and enjoy the tranquility – sometimes, that’s all it takes.

While strolling around the ship, I noticed how many fellow travelers retreat to quiet corners to work during the world cruise. I am really glad that I have nothing to do with that. Four months of vacation means four months without professional obligations for me. The laptop can stay at home! 😂

First Rays of Sunshine and a View of Cape Verde

Initially, the day proceeded a bit more quietly in terms of entertainment. After a black tea at the Sol Bar, I went to the letter shooting on the sports deck at 10:00 AM. There, I could enjoy the first rays of sunshine. A nice opportunity to make use of the photo flat rate Plus again!

At 10:15 AM, the Harbour Lounge was on the program at Theatrium. Here, the next port of call on our journey was introduced: Mindelo in Cape Verde. The event lasted until 11:00 AM and already whetted the appetite for the next destination.

Pool Brunch Under Canarian Sun

At 12:00 PM, a premiere followed: the first pool brunch of the world cruise!

Appropriately for the Canary Islands, Spanish specialties were served under radiant sunshine. Sangria was also available, evoking the appropriate holiday feeling culinarily. Sitting outside in excellent weather, enjoying delicious food, and looking at the sea – that’s how a sea day should look!

Afterward, I went for lunch at Bella Donna. Then, I treated myself to a nightcap at the Ocean Bar.

Actually, I had planned to play shuffleboard at 2:30 PM. But as is sometimes the case, a cozy end at the bar threw a wrench in my plans. Instead of a sporty afternoon, it turned into a little rest period. By 2:00 PM, I was already in my cabin taking a nap.

You don’t have to attend every program point. The world cruise is long enough to decide spontaneously sometimes!

A Letter to My Future Self

At 4:00 PM, it continued with a special event: the world cruise capsule. We could write a letter to our future selves and ask ourselves: Where do I see myself after this world cruise?

An exciting question, as many countries, impressions, and experiences still lie ahead of me. Who knows what thoughts I will have after 126 days and how this journey will change me? Perhaps that’s why it’s nice to capture my expectations and wishes for later.

At 4:30 PM, a quiz about the Canary Islands and Cape Verde followed. This turned our gaze toward the upcoming destinations again.

Hearty American Cuisine and Musical Excellence

At 5:30 PM, dinner under the theme of the USA was on the program. The culinary offerings were quite hearty and greasy: Hot dogs, spare ribs, fries, and all sorts of other American classics were available.

It was delicious, but while eating, I began to think about whether an occasional trip to the gym might not be a bad idea after all. With so many culinary temptations on board, you have to find a way to counteract somehow. 😂

At 6:30 PM, a musical highlight followed: The Cologne Symphony Orchestra gave their second show on board before parting as guest artists tomorrow. The program was entitled
