Antifagasto - La Serena

1000 km south on the Pan-American Highway. Nothing but desert. We need to get closer to Santiago de Chile as our return flight is on the 15th.

La Serena was founded in 1543 by the Spanish. Many Chileans spend their vacations here, on the beaches of the Pacific. Not much to see, except for the Elqui Valley.

1000 km on the Pan-American Highway, desert, nothing but desert. But it has to be done, as our return flight is on the 15th and La Serena is only 500 km away from Santiago. La Serena was founded in 1543 by the Spanish, making it the second oldest city in Chile. Many Chileans spend their summer vacation here on the beaches of the Pacific. There's not much else to see here, except for the Elqui Valley, more on that tomorrow.
