Imagine waking up in the morning and knowing that THE day of the year has come. You have a balanced breakfast, hop into the transfer and drive up steep gravel slopes. Once you reach the top, you attend 2 or 3 appointments, put on your work clothes and strap your work materials under your arm. You can already hear the hustle and bustle of the day. From now on, the blissful calm is over. The adrenaline of the workday continues to rise. Many thoughts run through your head. The pressure increases because you have been waiting for this day and looking forward to it all year.

Now the time has come, your name is loudly announced over the loudspeakers and you sit on the beam. You look down and see a sea of thousands of people and flags. Each and every one down there inspires you and cheers for you. All body parts are tense and the mind is so focused that you can complete this flight in the end. The ultimate would of course be with a telemark landing.

Your trainer waves you off and the traffic light switches to green. Here we go, down the approach lane and jump off the ski jump table. Now it's time to enjoy. The wonderful view over the lake and the mountain ridge. The roar of the audience gets louder and you did it. You pulled off the jump, like Austrian ski jumper Stefan Kraft did on March 18, 2017, reaching 253.5 m. SKI JUMP RECORD.

There are so many beautiful reasons to be happy

It was an incredible feeling to stand at the top of the world's largest ski jump. The view from Vikersundbakken over the entire valley is breathtaking. We are glad that we made this detour not only because of the weather.

Now it was time to continue for us. Over country roads and highways to Oslo. Because we hadn't had enough of ski jumping and it was the best opportunity to park MARC for the day at no cost, we drove directly to the Holmenkollen. Strolling through the ski museum and taking the elevator to the top. The view was nice, but not as great as from the other two ski jumps. You stand at the top and can look out over the Oslo Fjord, but it's difficult to assess the view of the jumper. It might have something to do with the fact that in the summer, a zip-line rushes down the ski jump here. 60 euros for 10 seconds of fun was not worth it to us.

We hopped on the subway and got off in the city center. It was already late afternoon and it was raining again. We walked through the streets for a short while and then set out to find the Himkok Bar. A speak-easy bar whose entrance can only be guessed by the small bar logo painted on the house wall.


Escaping the rain, we took a seat at the bar and browsed through the incredibly amazing drink menu. Theresa is once again blown away :-) The drinks were amazing. The philosophy behind the drink menu is that the bartenders are inspired by everything edible and drinkable that the country has to offer. Spectacular creations are mixed from local berries and flowers to mushroom flavors incorporated into an Old Fashioned. Mushrooms in a drink? Yes! And I must say, it takes some getting used to. But definitely not wrong. On top of that, the bar has its own distillery. Vodka, Aquavit, Gin, and the good old Old Tom Gin are produced here. Simply fascinating. Oslo is worth a trip just for the bar and its charming host.


We started the new week with dry weather and breakfast overlooking the ski jump. Strengthened, we set out to explore Oslo. Through the sculpture park, across the harbor area, and up the pedestrian zone to the Royal Palace. It was supposed to start at 1:30 pm, but on this day it was postponed to 4 pm. So we saved the spectacle for Copenhagen. We walked back through the city and picked up our MARC with the subway.

We gave Mrs. Becker a new destination address and let MARC's engine purr. We left Oslo, back into peace and nature. We quickly stopped at the supermarket to change our money into Norwegian currency, and then it was time for:

Astrid Lindgren, cinnamon buns, IKEA, Midsummer, royal house, Stockholm, and all the other things that remind us of Sweden. We arrived at the largest lake in the country. On a parking lot right in front of the city park of Karlstad. The mileage shows us today that we have covered the 3000 km with MARC.

This morning, we skipped breakfast and went straight for a long walk through the park in the glorious weather. We felt a bit like in Hessenpark. Here, old houses have also been rebuilt, you can explore nature and history, and there's even a petting zoo.

For the next 2 days, our goal is to enjoy and take advantage of the dry weather. We will stay here for now. The bicycles were already in use, we rode from the campsite to IKEA and the shopping center. Back on the bike path by the lake. We won't be bored here for the next few days.


So now it's enough for today, soaking up some sun and letting the evening fade away.
