Slightly frozen, the next day started very early. The roads where I stood were popular with large construction vehicles.
There was still a strong smell coming from Bobby's wheel arches. But still, I went on a discovery tour through Heiligenblut to find the next beautiful place for breakfast.
I found a place by a stream and was able to warm up in the sun with a cup of hot tea.
The plan for this day was to reach Villach.
A really nicely prepared town. On every other corner, there was a second-hand shop and next to it private shops with super expensive designer clothes. The shop windows were elaborately decorated and I felt that the city center was very close to the residents' hearts. Giant butterflies, picture frames, or hearts were hanging from the trees.
I had something to see and take pictures of everywhere.
The next stop should have actually been Ljubljana, but this was the last opportunity to turn 10 km to the next lake, so I temporarily ignored my navigation and continued to Faaker See. I found a spot that the navigation didn't know and so I found my own small access point to the lake. Once the SUP was pumped up, I was ready to go. On warm turquoise water and in the blazing sun at 34 degrees ☀️
The beauty was that I set sail from a peninsula, and as I continued to circle it, I gradually saw the full splendor of the mountains. I couldn't stop grinning and felt really good.
The waves were quite strong, so I didn't dare to stand up and enjoyed the rocking ride on my knees...
So it's not for beginners like me...
After 3 hours, I was satisfied and happy and had the most beautiful ending with which to leave a country.
Off to Ljubljana... the capital of Slovenia was about 2 hours away.
When the Austrian mountains flattened, I was already very relieved because after the brake mishap, I was super unsure how to go downhill with Bobby...
I arrived there at 19:30 and looked for a campsite. I found one in a camper rest area 15 minutes away. Not beautiful, but I felt well protected and it was only for this night. I couldn't complain about a stand fee of €10 including a bathroom and shower.
