740 kilometers on Ruta 40. Mainly through a steppe, with the Andes on our right. Our landlady gave us a decisive tip when we said goodbye: Glaciares. So we make our way to El Calafate. We have 1,300 kilometers one way ahead of us, but the weather forecast gives us hope. It's not until lunchtime in a godforsaken village that we book our accommodation for the next night. In Los Antiguos, we have to ask the police for directions. A quirky woman introduces us to the quirks of the house, the wood-burning stove is preheated, and breakfast is already in the fridge. Unfortunately, we find out later that Ruta 40 had to be closed due to snow and mud.
