Bilbao to Castro Urdiales

At 8:00 AM we started to ... Metro ? Why ? We saved ourselves the two-hour journey through the industrial area of Bilbao. The first destination was the suspension bridge in Getxo. From there, we took the beautiful coastal path from Portugalete to La Arena. The views of the Atlantic Ocean fascinated us over and over again. We walked along a post path and panoramic path above the coast. On this path, we crossed the border from the Basque Country to Cantabria and arrived in Pobena. Here, we had to walk a section on the national road N-634, where Klaus had a minor accident. But no worries, just a few scratches on his leg. Our destination Castro Urdiales got closer and closer on a meadow path above the Atlantic coast. The sight of the harbor and the beach promenade compensated us for the efforts. After arriving at the accommodation, we enjoyed the evening with tapas and wine in the old town. To end the day after about 30km, we are sitting at the harbor and enjoying the penultimate glass of wine (1€!).
