Willst du in die Zukunft sehen, geh in die Hauptstadt. (Christoph Mauny)

And so we traveled to Moscow.

Bye bye Pete
The first train ride, there will be many more, was very surprising. The train was punctual, clean, fast (almost constantly over 200km/h), and staffed with friendly people. Quickly it became clear why our train was relatively expensive. We were sitting in the restaurant car, and the food, worth 2000 rubles (about 30 euros) per person, was included in the ticket. But the train only ran for 4 hours from 7-11 am... So we drank coffee and had a big breakfast. Despite the high prices, it was practically impossible to spend the money during the journey. The other guests in the compartment were in a similar situation. So we took a lot with us (including dried mangoes, a bag of which cost about 7 euros).

After checking into our hotel room, we went to the city center to take a look around. We ate at a vareničnaja... Nostalgia pure: https://youtu.be/E57T8XYa7OM

Of course, we also took a look at Red Square.

Back at the hotel, it became gulag-like. We went out onto a balcony on the 20th floor. The view was, of course, amazing. Unfortunately, the door closed behind us...

Moscow in the Evening

Of course, there was a lecture - it was forbidden to go out onto the balcony...

Tomorrow we will continue with sightseeing in the largest city in Europe.

Love from Moscow - especially to our grandpa Eckhard who turned 80 years old today. Congratulations! :-)
