We had to set our alarm clock to make it in time for breakfast. Geof, our host, gave us valuable tips and refreshed, we set off to the Brisbane River, which meanders like a snake through the city. It's fascinating how a significant part of the transportation of people is done here by small ferries that quickly take you to almost all destinations. We took the red City Hopper for free transportation to Southbank, the recreational area in the middle of the city, for all 'Brissies'. Here, people barbecue, run, ride bikes, listen to free concerts, swim, eat, drink, celebrate, relax, worship the sun, and so much more...
Since yesterday, the music festival has been running and we enjoyed cool jazz that led us through the area. In the evening, all bridges are illuminated in colorful colors, giving the city the appearance of a vastly oversized amusement park.
We took the way back on foot over the Goodwill Bridge and through the beautiful City Botanic Garden where we also saw the Kookaburra.
Kookaburra
Phew, then quickly back to our B&B to pay tribute to jet lag and lack of sleep.
