After an exciting week in Melbourne, on 22.10.2016 we headed to the tropical north, to Cairns in Queensland. On the flight there, a local sat next to me and told me a lot about the north, the country, and the people. Of course, he also gave me insider tips! :) On the first day, I went to the Great Barrier Reef! Unfortunately, the reef doesn't look as colorful anymore due to coral bleaching and undoubtedly also due to mass tourism. However, the fish have not lost any of their colors! It was truly indescribable... I saw reef sharks, a turtle, little Nemos, and a stingray. That alone made the day a unique experience! Unfortunately, I can't show any underwater photos here because they are still on an underwater camera. The outfit in the stingersuit will have to do for now. Another experience was the drive to Cape Tribulation, right in the north of Queensland. Here, rainforest and ocean meet, surrounded by breathtaking beaches. Unfortunately, you couldn't go for a swim here, as crocodiles and sea wasps lurked in the water. The drive there was an absolute highlight, the first time driving in left-hand traffic with the car ;)
