From our accommodation on the hill of Umhausen, we first headed towards the village, then walked along the Ötztaler Ache. After crossing it, we walked on a forest road to a small hamlet with a church. We then climbed steeply uphill and soon had a great view of the valley floor of Umhausen. We continued along the forest road until we could see the village of Tumpen. We then followed rocky paths to reach the Piburger Lake, where some brave souls were already in the 'warm' 20-degree water. From here, we had to climb some more altitude before heading to our destination in Sautens via Piburg and Haderlehn. In the end, it was another 17km, with an elevation gain of 543m and a descent of 849m. Tomorrow, we are looking forward to the final stage.
