Since our stay in Puerto Montt was unfortunately very short, we got up early to do something. It was raining again, the sky was completely covered with clouds and there was no sign of improvement. Since we couldn't catch a glimpse of the Osorno volcano, we drove to the Alerce Andino National Park. We were the first visitors of the day and had the lush green national park all to ourselves. We walked several kilometers to the waterfalls of the Rio Chaicas and to the Alerce Milenario. The Alerce Milenario is a huge Patagonian cypress that is over 3,000 years old. Despite the rain, we enjoyed great views of the beautiful nature. However, we have to come back again someday to see more of the nature around Puerto Montt. We drove back to the airport and then the plane took off to Puerto Natales.
