2nd stage from Werfen to Bad Gastein

Published: 14.07.2024

Today looked better - the sun slowly but steadily came out. After breakfast we continued along the Salzach, initially towards Bischofshofen - unfortunately we couldn't see the ski jump. But it is a beautiful, pretty place. Then we continued for 15.7 km to Schwarzach im Pongau. In St. Johann we made a detour to the Liechtenstein Gorge. Very impressive. We continued to Dorfgastein. The mountains slowly seem more gigantic and each new valley looks more beautiful than the previous one. It was always steep uphill, but luckily also rapid downhill. It was really fun and you reach almost 50 km/h! Now we went through a tunnel, with its own separate bike lane. But it was incredibly loud and the exhaust fumes were annoying. Since 2020 another small bike tunnel has been built. That was fun and provided a welcome cooling down. After a short drink break we continued to Hofgastein and finally reached the end of our stage in Bad Gastein. We have covered 57km today. Early tomorrow morning we want to go up the local mountain, the Stubnerkogel.
