How are we currently spending our free time?

Despite the heat, we do various workouts in the afternoon. Almost every day, three girls come to us after their classes and show us African dance choreographies. Our current favorite song:

On Saturday, after a long walk (1.5 hours in the sun at 32°C), we spent the day at the Sunflower Beach, which is located on the other side of Senya. It had everything that makes a beautiful beach day: white sand, sun, sea, coconut, padded beach chairs, flowing water, ...

Well roasted and very tired we fell into our beds in the evening. The next morning, we drove together with Tina to her church Qadesh for Sunday prayers. The church service was like a festival. We were amazed at how colorful, loud and cheerful the atmosphere was. Most of the time, choirs performed accompanied by a band, while people clapped, sang along and waved their bandanas. The interludes were filled with motivating sermons from the pastor, advertising for merchandise products of the church, fundraising, and the announcement of the soon to come flushing toilets.

Afterwards, we planned to visit the West Hills Mall, which is supposed to be the largest shopping center in Ghana. The journey there was like a roller coaster ride (Wiesn ahoi), only with real fears of death. The highlights there were a pizza and a good coffee, as we left the mall without any shopping bags. After a surprisingly uncomplicated journey back home by trotro, we met our new roommate Jane (involuntarily called Grandma by Tina) in the evening. She is from England and is here for the second time, working in the orphanage. She fits very well into our girls' shared apartment and we will accompany her on a visit to the orphanage soon.
