After it rained on us at a small campsite outside Tinghir at night, we packed our tent wet and drove towards Marrakech. In the small village of Thaourirte, we noticed a small hotel where we, as the only guests, checked in. A very nice hotel owner was delighted with the unexpected visit and offered us a nice room including breakfast. For dinner, we had a tajine with fresh vegetables from the garden.
The next day, the temperatures were cooler than the previous day as we headed towards Col du Tichka through a wonderful mountain landscape. The freshly snow-capped mountains gave the landscape a unique atmosphere. At times, it felt like we were driving through Tibet. This impression was reinforced by the fact that a large part of the mountain road was being renewed and we drove on a reddish muddy track. Only in the small villages were we reminded that we were in the middle of Morocco by the hooded men and veiled women. At the top of Col du Tichka, at 2260m, the whole souvenir stands were covered with fresh snow.
