Alone on the road again

Published: 01.04.2018

Even the next day when we were on our way to Whanganui, our next destination, I still couldn't stop crying. Nothing mattered to me. It was raining and I felt bad, so why stop crying. It just came out of me.

In Wanganui we spent 10 days. We had to replace our windshield because we had a huge chip... then we needed 4 new tires and we had to repair our roof. In addition, I had to write a few more entries... I was so behind... still am :D after a great summer it became very rainy. We were very happy to be at this campsite because it was fantastic. A huge common room and a game room with a ping pong table and an outdoor pool. Also not far from the city center and the car workshop. The internet was also great, so we could call home without any problems. After this time, I felt better and could laugh again J Which made Daniel happy again :D

After a week in Whanganui full of car repairs, rain and relaxation, we finally did something again. We explored the city and on a beautiful day we went to the beach and sunbathed and went swimming in the sea. Furthermore, we discovered a very cool place in the city. It is located on a hill near the city and on the hill there is a tower that you can go up for free and from which you must have a wonderful view of the city and the region. We saw pictures that were taken at sunset and twilight and we definitely wanted to have such pictures too. So one day we drove to this tower around 7 pm, walked up and enjoyed the view and waited until it got darker. We were the only ones on the tower and when it was too dark to take more pictures, we decided to drive back to the campsite. As we were walking down the stairs, Daniel noticed a sign that said the tower will be locked at twilight and when you hear the signal, you should leave the tower immediately. We looked at each other. Because on the way up we didn't see the sign at all and it was already dark. Daniel asked what we should do if we are locked in now, because it had gotten really cold. But we couldn't imagine being locked in, because we didn't hear a signal either. However, when we stood in front of the closed gate, locked in the tower, we didn't feel like joking anymore... Something like that could only happen to us again. So... what should we do now, dark, cold and locked in a tower... well the solution came pretty quickly around the corner, because a neighbor noticed our flashlight and alerted a kind of community yard, who then sent someone to unlock the tower so we could get out. The neighbor came by briefly to let us know that someone was on the way. She also reported that it had happened before that someone was locked in the tower, but not for years, which is why another neighbor no longer has a key for the tower that she used to have... Oh man, we thought, of course we have to be the ones who are locked in again after years. When the nice lady with the key showed up and freed us, we went shopping right away to buy something to eat, and back to the campsite.

After 10 days in Whanganui, we moved on again.
