Today we are on the road all day by car. Sam says if it rains, the road is a bit difficult to pass. The next stop is chimp trekking - hiking and searching for chimps. The night ends at 5:30 am, which means looking for clothes in the dark. The light is so dim that you usually find your mouth to put the toothbrush into, nothing more. Electricity is very expensive.
We encounter the everyday Boda Bodas, which transport their goods or people. The road quickly becomes something that in Germany can only be navigated with a construction vehicle and would be extensively blocked off. 'The Chinese are building a new road here.' If there is only one road, you can't bypass it in the meantime, so it continues to be used during construction. A shaking and jolting begins that replaces every chiropractor and won't end until after 9 hours! Luckily, we have skin around our body, otherwise it would have been a long search to find the individual vertebrae again. We cover a whole 320 km in the 9 hours and reach our destination in the rainforest. A clean, large tent with a solid roof in the middle of the trees. On the way, we disturb an ant colony that immediately and very swiftly heads towards Olaf's pants leg. They bite hard and can only be dissuaded from their feeding intentions with great difficulty. As soon as it's dark, a deafening scream begins - monkeys of all kinds and varieties. That's probably why we were supposed to have a schnapps beforehand...
