Tag 1 (2025) Dubai is calling....

The advantage of a holiday like October 3rd falling on a Friday is that you can take the night flight on October 2nd and gain a whole vacation day! 

Anyone like me who relies on school holidays takes advantage of this immediately!

This time, the preparations were very straightforward. For the first time, it's just the two of us traveling - the partly adult 'children' no longer have the desire or the time to fly into the heat for the umpteenth time with us parents - my son can't stand it anyway and graciously opts out - he wants to focus on getting his driver's license at home.

The daughter has no semester break... also can't join. So, for over 20 years, it's been a 'couple's vacation' - somehow strange 😅

We start with the last flight of the day at 22:20 - on time - with Emirates heading to Dubai. Unfortunately, there were only middle seats available in a 4-seat row. Nowadays, it seems everyone is willing to pay the outrageous fee of at least €30 for a pre-reserved seat. As frequent flyers, we are too stingy for that. It's a night flight – it will work out somehow. 

Like last year when I flew 'alone' with my sister-in-law, the crew takes their time with the in-flight service. After a movie, dinner is served around midnight, and I'm almost falling asleep while they clear the trays. A short and uncomfortable night, but hey, now we have 9 days of vacation awaiting us!

We are looking forward to cozy temperatures of 36 degrees during the day and 30 degrees at night. Thinking about this heat, I’m grateful for the airplane's air conditioning 😆
