With mom in Aarhus

This week I had visitors again, namely from my mom!

She already knew Aarhus a little bit because my parents brought me here in August. But this time there was more time and so I could show her (just like Lukas before) all my favorite places in Aarhus.

We (once again) went to the botanical garden, which is still beautiful and where butterflies still flutter around despite the autumn weather. The great thing about the botanical garden is that it doesn't cost anything and that you can soak up some warmth and 'sun' there. It has gotten really cold here in Aarhus lately. A dose of tropical air really feels good!

The Deer Park is always worth a visit and of course we couldn't miss it!

We also spent a day at the beach. When you sit hidden in the dunes, protected from the wind, and look at the beach and the sea, you almost feel like you're on Sylt. You can really relax and switch off. It's really nice. :)

We also had the pleasure of a 'Thursday Cake Bar' in my dormitory. That means: an organization team from the dormitory ordered cake from the best pastry shop in town and we all got to stuff our stomachs. Of course, we didn't need to be told that twice! :) I have to say, I've rarely eaten such good cake. Simply fantastic. And yes, the cake tasted as good as it looks :)

I also had to show my mom DOKK1 and she was just as excited as I was. I also took the opportunity to find out what's wrong with my CPR number (a kind of citizen registration number that I need as a residence permit). I've been waiting for the letter with the number for almost two months now. When I asked at the 'Borgerservice' in DOKK1, it turned out that I was 'danishated'. That means they entered me as CARLINE PETRE. Danish women's names don't end with '-a' as is usual in Germany, but with '-e'. So now I have a Danish alter ego. Now that's also clarified and the number with my correct name should arrive soon in my mailbox.

Finally, I went to 'Oli Nico' for a nice dinner with my mom. A small restaurant that serves fresh mussels and other delicacies and is considered the best restaurant in town. But the prices are student-friendly and that's why it's so popular with young people. It was super delicious!

It's incredible how time flies. I got so used to having Lukas and then my mom here. So it was a bit sad to be alone again. But tonight I'm already getting a visit from Franzi (from Esbjerg), Teresa and Mona (from Augsburg)! The next few days, the girls and I are planning a trip to Skagen, Denmark's northernmost point, where the Baltic Sea and the North Sea meet.
