Etappe 132: From Schaffhausen to Allensbach/Konstanz

Published: 30.09.2022

There were only 60 kilometers left to drive to Allensbach on Lake Constance, where Laura was supposed to arrive by train in the afternoon. Our campsite for the next four days was also located there. Until then, there was still enough time for a small tour of Stein am Rhein. In the end, I arrived at the campsite fifteen minutes before Laura, so once again perfect timing! We set up our tent in a quieter corner of the rather crowded camping area. In addition to direct access to the beach, there was also a boat rental at the site, which we used several times in the following days: first for pedal boating, later for a canoe trip. We also went on foot to Reichenau Island, but unfortunately always along the main road. On the island itself, there were quiet paths, and of course, ice cream as a reward.

The campsite was located a bit outside the city, but it took only 15 minutes by S-Bahn to get to the center of Konstanz. There was also a lot to see there, but the weather didn't really cooperate during our city tour. So we preferred to sit in a cozy breakfast place and make the best of it (as always). But the days were also filled with many other enjoyable activities. We barely managed to escape from the escape room as a team, and even Laura eventually succeeded in stand-up paddling.

By chance, the Konstanz Wine Festival was taking place during our short vacation. Of course, we didn't want to miss that. We tried the delicious wines from the Lake Constance region, but we realized that we still aren't comfortable in such large crowds. As a finale, we had a salad artfully arranged in a (clean) garbage bag, and canned beer by the lake at sunset. It couldn't have been more romantic! After four beautiful days, Laura had to return to work, while I got back on my bike.
