Peru_2025 - Day 8: From Arequipa to Chivay

Part 1 Colca Canyon Tour

Our two-day tour to the Colca Canyon started at 07:30. Along the way, we made many smaller stops at viewpoints overlooking the volcanoes, the Andes (with Dust Devil) and we stopped to see llamas, alpacas, and vicuñas. At the Mirador de Los Andes, at 4,910 m, I was feeling like Dizzy Lizzy 😵‍💫. After lunch at a local eatery in Chivay, where other larger and smaller travel groups were also fed, the second part of Day 1 began. By chance, we stumbled into a local festival, and on the way to the hot springs, we spontaneously added a zip line to our itinerary. We spent the night in Chivay. Our room had a small heater, about the size of a handbag (outside temperature at night was around freezing).
