Friday, 06/03/20, Day 110

Wotae: 10.03.2020

Collins Memorial Reserve, Picton

We're finally realizing the long-awaited kayaking today in the beautiful surroundings of Marlborough Sounds. These remind us of Fiordland in the far south of the South Island and offer a stunning scenery. Especially since we rented the kayaks for the morning hours. For three hours, we enjoy the tranquility on the water together. Before we leave for the South Island with the ferry this evening, we'll take a shower and prepare one of the many public grilled sandwiches. We arrive at the ferry check-in at 6 PM, but we're informed that the scheduled departure at 7 PM is delayed. With a 90-minute delay and the last rays of sunlight, the ferry sets sail towards Wellington. We dock at the harbor around quarter to 12 and drive for another hour to the next campground. On the way there, we grab a quick bite at McDonald's.
