Evening Game Drive

Wotae: 18.02.2019

We had a real adventure! Maxima had been saying over and over again that she really wanted something like this for her birthday: An evening 'Game Drive' with a park ranger in a safari vehicle! That means: an open vehicle, and you sit much higher than in a regular SUV. Children are only allowed to ride from the age of 6, but Konstantin somehow managed to make it work again (actually incredible, as this is strictly enforced)!!!!!

And: we were the only ones! Just among ourselves. It was so nice that Konstantin could enjoy it for once, since he always drives. And the warm breeze was great. Simply wonderful.

We started at dusk. In the semi-darkness we saw two lions and a leopard walking away, then it got darker and darker. Our guide had two powerful lamps with him, one of which we were allowed to hold (mainly Maxima and Konstantin of course).

And Maxima saw one animal after another (the eyes of the animals reflect when they are illuminated). Lio: "Maxima sees so well, she has eagle eyes!"

We saw (among other things) a puff adder! Scary!

A venomous scorpion! Also scary!!!

Some owls (with their eyes open, and soooo cute!!!)

A frog in a big puddle (since then we don't drive through splashing anymore...).

An african wild cat,

Many jackals and desert foxes.

Lio kept saying, "actually I shouldn't be here at all, because I'm only three years old, but I'm still here!"

Both of them couldn't believe their luck the whole time and had so much fun, Maxima was beaming with joy throughout the whole trip and Lio was also very excited and curious. We adults also enjoyed it very much. It was a great experience that will certainly stay in our memory for a long time.

Vielen Dank für die eindrucksvollen und spannenden Berichte. Ich freue mich besonders, daß all die angelesenen Vorfälle nicht eingetreten sind. Macht weiter so, es bleibt sehr interessant
