Lake view and fireplace

Wotae: 24.12.2018

Further south, the Carretera Austral is still just as beautiful. And the accommodations! We spent three nights in a wooden cabin, complete with a stove, whirlpool bathtub, and a dream panorama of the second largest lake in South America (who knows the largest?). And there were little horses, foals, kittens, puppies, and horseflies.

There, near Puerto Tranquilo, you can admire fantastic marble caves. So hop on the boat! Even though the strong wind tousles your hair, the excursion is definitely worth it. And in the evening, you can warm up in the hot tub. First, we wanted to eat something delicious in Puerto Tranquilo (the name is program). Haha. Due to a road construction site, the village was without electricity and therefore without running water for hours. Apart from crepes at the fast food stand, there was nothing else to eat. We also noticed the impact of this construction site on basic infrastructure facilities, for example, while refueling, or rather attempting to refuel, in Puerto Guadal. There was gasoline (which is not a given) and you could even pay with a card! Well, unfortunately, the power was cut off again for a few hours. So we continued with a half-full tank and crossed the border into Argentina 🇦🇷

We're used to driving a lot, but the first day there consisted of scrubbing over 600 km on more or less good roads. Through the Argentine Pampas, where there's nothing to distract you except occasionally a guanaco or a pothole. Fun. But eventually, you arrive and get to pet the calves living in the next accommodation.

Today is the 24th and we're a bit behind with the blog because, at the moment, we're already in Ushuaia. From the southernmost city in the world, we wish everyone a Merry and Merry Christmas!!
