Our fourth day of travel brought many surprises in the morning. The alarm went off at 6 am. At first, Regina and I reported feeling ill with typical flu symptoms. Then we looked outside: 3°C and snowfall. The mountains lightly frosted, and there was wet snow on the car. Quickly packing up and off with our things to the car. The bar where we planned to have breakfast at 7 am was of course closed. So the much-needed warmth had to come from the car. After about 20 miles, we found a small restaurant by the roadside. Here we enjoyed warm coffee and tea. Next, we headed to the visitor center of the national parks. Here we have a proper American breakfast. The peaks of the park are still shrouded in clouds. We drive up Signal Mountain (about 2500 m) and have a great view, as the sun has mostly driven away the clouds. It is quite stormy. In the afternoon, we take a car tour through the park. Anke had already been hiking here and shows us the most beautiful spots. Around 2 pm, we set off for Yellowstone National Park; it is not far. Our room is not yet ready, so we head straight to the Old Faithful Geyser. At 5 pm, we can finally check into our spacious barrack. Regina and I lie down right away. It has gotten worse. Anke and Beate buy something for dinner. I eat in bed and then fall asleep immediately.
