Just by looking at the creative headline, all of you should know that I (Phil) am writing the blog post today. My better half, who is overflowing with eloquence, is too tired. But this is no surprise after what we have left behind today in terms of kilometers and nerves.
After leaving Jenni and Marten in Munich around noon (thank you again for your wonderful (hospitality), Marten, the machine is actually named after the LIDL sausage!), our path led us through the idyllic Chiemgau region and through dreamlike mountain landscapes along the Tauern motorway to Slovenia.
But before that, Italy welcomed us with a heavy hailstorm. Exactly at the moment when we had spread several towels on the dashboard to get the incoming floods under control, it stopped again and we left Italy via a beautiful mountain pass towards Slovenia. There, a winding road led us up a densely forested slope and then down again. We could almost imagine the brown bears behind the next bush. If I'm not mistaken, I even saw Ronja the Robber's Daughter hop over a tree trunk... No... I lied.
Four countries in one day, but it also felt that way...
Arriving in Bovec, we ended up at the picturesque campsite with the wonderful name KAMP POLOVNIK!
After getting the van ready for the night, we went to the local establishment. Delicious food and now off to bed. Tomorrow we will walk 25km along the Soca river from its source back to the campsite.
That's all for today. Tomorrow with more enthusiasm and hopefully impressive photos of caves, gorges, and waterfalls.
Please forgive me for any spelling mistakes. The local Pivo is delicious and I'm tired now...
Until tomorrow
