Bambi for Vietnam

Sooooo, after four days in Phu Quoc, tomorrow morning we're heading to Saigon. This time I'm staying for two days. Flying again. I never thought I would visit an airport so often, but going by land would have taken several hours due to the weather conditions. Besides, flying is relatively cheap. Treating myself 😧😧😧 ...

Phu Quoc was the right stop at the right time. Very relaxed after the many stops in the first ten days. Although, yesterday I hopped on a mountain bike again and pedaled around the island. The bike was actually OK, but as an arrogant Münster bike expert, I would probably give it away generously at home. Sometimes while riding, I wondered if there are special Vietnamese gearboxes for small people, because the bike had a very peculiar translation 🤔??? But never mind, it was really fun the second time too. I was exploring the interior of the island and climbed a rather light but almost endless hill in search of a "mini waterfall" ... Tourists can be quite crazy ... to admire the "natural wonder". I lost a lot of calories again, both cycling and climbing. 😨

Today, I decided to have a day at the beach. After the white Bai Sao Beach, this time it's the yellowish ... even if it looks different in the photos ... Long Beach. "Long" is to be taken literally in this case. For those who like to be picky: 20 km long. Rounded off by my first consciously perceived sunset ...

By now, I think I have a pretty good feel for the country. Really a different world. Not only because of the very helpful people, the wonderful climate, the beautiful landscape, the chaos, the simplicity in many places, and last but not least, that's also Vietnam, the trash. Just like the houses that are sometimes used as a workshop, kitchen, and bedroom at the same time, which sometimes look like garages or small storage rooms. And occasionally, to European eyes, it can be super cheesy. For example, yesterday I suddenly came face to face with life-size plastic deer when I was walking through a park-like forest. They were just standing there. I've seen tigers like that here too, but they at least used to live here (... unfortunately extinct now 🤓). But deer??? Original German Bambis??? Only Heidi was missing.

Well, if they say so ... I'm just a guest 😉.
