After picking up the keys to my parents' apartment at the Technical University of Chemnitz on Tuesday, January 29, 2019, I walk with my dog down Reichenhainer and then Bernsdorfer Straße towards downtown. At the intersection of Lutherstraße, my dog squats down and looks like he wants to poop. Since he already did his business extensively in the morning, there is nothing left for me to pick up. So we continue walking and I am already thinking about going to the bakery, it's around four o'clock, time for a coffee. Then a blue VW Passat pulls up next to us, the driver gets out of his car with a tissue in his hand and shouts at me, 'Look what I found from you.' and tries to press the dog poop (probably a pile next to my dog) in my face with the tissue. I just manage to dodge it, but my grandfather's borrowed jacket still gets a bit dirty. I also manage to defend myself against his attempt to punch me while keeping my dog under control, who would love to defend me. Then the wannabe sheriff drives away visibly satisfied, leaving me somewhat speechless. Over the next few days, I have some thoughts about the incident...
I had to come home all the way for this shit to happen to me.
Great atmosphere here in the city of Chemnitz.
Consider the logistical effort for the whole action. Stop, collect poop, deposit poop in the car, continue driving, stop again, throw poop at Steffen, drive away... Crazy!
In other countries, there seems to be a kind of social consensus not to throw feces at each other. It seems to me that this should also be a discussion-worthy and desirable civilizational achievement for my homeland!
Fortunately, during my visit home, I had enough contact with normal people besides these strange encounters and can now laugh about the incident. Nevertheless, the impression remains that something is shifting or has already shifted here. Too bad.
