After we decided yesterday to take the ferry to the Lofoten Islands, we packed up this morning in a relaxed manner and put our semi-dry, freshly washed clothes in the car. The ferry was supposed to leave at 4 p.m., so we set off for Bodø around 1 p.m. We arrived at the ferry terminal at 2 p.m. and happily stood in the 3rd row behind 2 other cars. We enjoyed the sun and the fact that our laundry was finally drying. Around 3 p.m., a lady appeared and issued tickets to the other 2 rows. We took out our debit card to pay, but she didn't want it... because only the first two rows fit on the ferry... in the same sentence, she also said that if we left the car there, we could be in the front of the line for the 7:15 p.m. ferry. Disappointed, we accepted this fact and had something to eat. We hoped so much that we would somehow still make it onto this ferry. When the loading of the ferry started, we saw our chances dwindling, as there were a lot of huge RVs boarding. When we could see the loading area, there was only one spot left. However, there was still a car in front of us. We already imagined standing there until 7 p.m. But then this nice lady came to us, looked at us and said: "We will try it", the most beautiful words on this day. And indeed, we somehow managed to fit in diagonally, and so we drove for 4 hours to the Lofoten Islands.
So here we are now, at the loudest and most crowded campsite on the whole Lofoten Islands, a real culture shock but it's okay. Tomorrow, we will start exploring the island.
