After a surprisingly quiet night in Alberobello (I was expecting more car noise), we want to look for a nice beach spot south of Brindisi on the coast. Unfortunately, this stretch of coastline is not to our taste at all. Ghost towns without soul, everything closed. We can't even find anything to buy.
So, on to Lecce. There we stock up at EuroSpin, the Italian Aldi. Then we look for a place to stay overnight. During my morning Mayla round, I am shocked by all the garbage on the beach. It's actually so beautiful....
Despite the upcoming wind, the night is surprisingly calm. Apparently, we're in a protected area. My morning Mayla round ends with wet pants and wet shoes. Overnight, a part of the beach has turned into a quicksand area. After two steps, I can only go down on my knees. Let's get out of here!
On our way to the southernmost point of Apulia, we find the Grotta delle Poesia, one of the most beautiful sights in Apulia. Unfortunately, it is part of an archaeological site and is closed. But the surroundings are also great! And it's an experience in this wind. I'll just copy the picture of the cave from the internet.
Our next stop is Santa Maria de Leuca, the southernmost point of Apulia. On a clear day, you can see as far as Greece. Well....
But we do find our Benedetto at the end of the world. Anyone who pilgrimages here arrives in paradise. We're pilgrimaging with our motorhome.
In the evening, we check in at Agricamping Torre Sabea in Gallipoli. It seems to be dominated by German campers. Winter guests, it seems.
We have to wait out the storm. But it's 17 degrees. Not bad.
