Greece is popular among vacationers as ever. Beautiful beaches and crystal-clear water attract people every year to the most wonderful weeks of the year in this country. A Greece vacation has something to offer for everyone. The beautiful Greek islands, amazing cities on the mainland, and of course a variety of attractions. Greece, the land of philosophers and thinkers, and a stunning nature. To make the vacation an unforgettable experience, there are a few important things to consider.
Greece owes its Mediterranean climate to its location between the Mediterranean Sea, Ionian Sea, and the Aegean Sea. Hot and dry summers and mild but humid winters determine the weather. Spring in Greece is very short and lasts from March to May. Temperatures up to 20 degrees and a delightful sea of flowers make the country a perfect destination for an affordable Greek vacation during this time. The transition from spring to summer is very fast, and then the thermometer rises to 30 degrees and more. This remains the same until well into October. In the north of Greece, it is slightly cooler due to the mountainous region. In these regions, there is also snow in winter. The fastest summer arrives on the popular holiday island of Crete.
When booking a Last Minute Vacation, there is a wide range of hotels available. But even with a self-planned vacation, there are plenty of accommodation options. Almost every place has a hotel, at least a guesthouse. In some regions, there are only Luxury Hotels that are less suitable for an affordable Greek vacation. But that doesn't mean that a Greece vacation on a small budget is not possible. There are hotels, guesthouses, holiday apartments, or holiday homes for every budget.
The most popular attractions include the gorgeous beaches. But the country has much more to offer. Thanks to its history and ancient sites, there is enough variety for a vacation at the beach. The Acropolis in Athens is one of the most famous sights. The islands also have some charming places and sites. on Crete, for example, the Palace of Knossos. Or the oldest tree in Europe on the island of Kos. The highest mountain range in Greece, the so-called Olympus, is now a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and is considered the residence of the Greek gods. During a boat trip, the Melassani Cave can be visited on Kefalonia or you can be mighty impressed by the floating monasteries of Meteora.
The Greek cuisine can be described easily. A lot of fish, even more meat, and plenty of fresh vegetables. The food is hearty and very popular with many. Not only on an affordable Greek vacation but also at home. The most popular meat dishes are Biftekti, Gyros, Souvlaki, and Moussaka. A good Greek meal must, of course, include Feta cheese. This cheese can only be called that if it really comes from the Greek region. The lavish Greek meal is rounded off with a strong coffee and the obligatory national drink Ouzo. Vacationers in Greece are naturally spoiled with fresh fruit, delicious ice cream, and the dessert Baklava, which is also known from Turkish cuisine.
