It's drizzling a bit. Drive to Napier. Stopover in Wairoa. Arrival in Napier around 4:00 p.m. First to the visitor information and then we stroll through the Art Deco city. Napier was almost completely destroyed in 1931 after an earthquake followed by a fire. The reconstruction was done in the Art Deco style. Very beautiful houses and shopping area. One day before Christmas, there's no sign of hustle and bustle or stress here either. The shops are only open until 5:00 p.m. Many cafes close around 4:00 p.m. We find an overnight spot at the yacht harbor on an idyllic peninsula at a freedom camping site.
