After two days in Fairbanks, we had enough of city life and made our way to Chena Hot Springs. We wanted to go to the "thermal bath" there in the morning and looked for a place to stay on the way there. We found a beautiful spot right on the gravel bank of the Chena River. Here we washed my laundry and tried to find gold in the river. The latter, however, failed more or less unsuccessfully. We spent the rest of the evening by the river with two Austrians who were standing next to us.
The next morning we wanted to make our way to the hot springs. However, it was already almost 30 degrees in the morning. We decided against getting into the seemingly super hot water and instead went for a short hike. This led us up a hill through rock columns, accompanied by a beautiful view over the Chena Valley. Since we liked the last camping spot so much, we set up our camp at the same spot again and cooled off in the very cold river. We ended the super relaxed and lazy day with a campfire.
