30.09.16: First glance at the city & endless sleep

Wotae: 02.10.2016

The first real day in Auckland starts just like the night started: completely exhausted.

Jet lag and the few hours of 'sleep' on the couch have dampened the initial euphoria. Hunger was also a factor now. Luckily, you could indulge in toast, cereal, instant coffee (don't care, as long as it's coffee!!) and more cereal for $8 at the all-you-can-eat buffet of the hostel. Done and done.

It's remarkable how many Germans are running around here. It still feels almost like Cologne after a night of partying 🤔

We have 6 hours to kill until we can move into our actual hostel, Freemans Lodge, and pursue our new hidden hobby: SLEEPING!

The weather is kinda okay. Cloudy, 15 degrees, and occasional showers. Put on a rain jacket and dive into New Zealand's largest city! 🤘🏼

One must say, it doesn't feel like being on the other side of the world at all. It looks like any big city - McDonald's, Starbucks, etc.

Until we reached the harbor.

It was nice here. The eastern coast of Auckland - there is nothing more beyond it for a long, long distance.
But here, we will discover much more in the next few days, or rather in a week.
Right behind us was a huge covered open hall. You can play badminton or table tennis here, no joke: nets, rackets, balls.. Even power outlets for charging your phone and others are available. And all that for free. I like!

I still wonder how Thimo and I managed to play half an hour of badminton at a very professional level with so little sleep. 😅

After walking around Auckland with our bags for 30 minutes, we finally arrived at the actual hostel: no holding back now, time to SHOWER! SLEEP!!! 🎉😍

At least it's already three in the afternoon..
