Monday started with us getting the car ready and packing everything from the house to start our journey. We were really excited to sleep in our own bed 😍 The original plan was to stay one more night at the Algarve. However, since we didn't know how we would manage to refuel, we decided to find a diesel gas station first. Luckily, the host of our house gave us a good tip, so we went there first. We were lucky! Each car was allowed to fill up with 15 liters of diesel, and being clever as we are, we simply queued twice and our tank was full again 💁🏻♀️💁🏽♂️ Since our AdBlue was also empty and we had to keep an eye on our oil level, we checked everything 👩🏽🏭👨🏻🏭 Thus, we were able to continue our journey to the Algarve. However, it didn't become more than a stopover because we couldn't find a decent camping site with free spaces. But that was not a big deal. The landscape was beautiful, but due to the crowd of people, it didn't seem inviting anymore. Even the beaches that were described as insider tips were crowded. So we continued driving until just beyond the Spanish-Portuguese border and spent the night at a really nice place near the harbor. Somehow, we automatically adapt to the Spanish lifestyle, so we had our dinner at the restaurant around 10 pm, went to bed at 1:30 am and surprisingly slept until 11 am. We had a relaxed breakfast and continued our journey along the Spanish coast through Gibraltar, where we could see Africa.
We were now looking for a camping site that could accommodate us for more than one night, but that was not so easy. We received almost only rejections and ended up staying overnight at an "emergency solution". The weather was a change from feeling 15 to 30 degrees and it was quite challenging for us at the beginning. The camping site was near Marbella, so we understood after a short surprise during dinner why not only the restaurant guests but also the waiters spoke perfect British English. However, we had a great evening with great food and wine. When we returned to the camping site, it was around midnight and the Spanish families started preparing dinner. So we were the first ones to go to bed while the children were still playing happily 😄 The plan for the next few days is finally to find a place that can accommodate us for 2-3 nights.
