After Ålesund we skipped many of the classic mail boat stops, had a whole day at sea and went straight to the Lofoten. Of course, direct only refers to the stops, the route goes between the islands wherever possible, so lots of sounds and little open sea. And a lot to see, at around 10:45 p.m. we crossed the Arctic Circle. The associated ceremony was completed the next morning, with a “sea god” and ice in the collar. 🤪🤣
Yesterday we went ashore in Svolvær on the Lofoten Islands, and today the fishing business is still the main source of income here. Large racks of drying cod indicate this. From Lofoten onwards, the mountains directly on the shore are also covered in snow, we are now driving through a winter landscape.
