As mentioned before, we had to hurry to be in Airlie Beach on 22.01. From here, we booked a 2-day sailing tour around the Whitsunday Island group. On our 'Condor' boat, together with 25 other travelers and the crew, we started our journey after picking up Olga from the airport. On the first day, we had a lot of sun and were lucky with the wind, which provided optimal conditions for sailing. After a successful start, the first snorkeling tour was already on the agenda. In the evening, we had delicious burgers and a few beers while playing fun games on deck. We were woken up at 6 in the morning in order to make the most of the day and cover a lot of distance. In the afternoon, we went on our second snorkeling tour. We were taken to the reefs by a small motorboat and then had 1 1/2 hours to observe the corals, countless colorful fish species, small rays, and turtles up close. After a midday snack, we went ashore to the famous Whitehaven Beach. Similar to the beaches in Jervis Bay, this beach is considered one of the whitest sand beaches in the world. The rainy weather was initially disappointing, but at least it didn't necessarily result in a sunburn for us. After about two hours, we returned to the boat through the rainforest and all took a nap on deck, exhausted. After dinner, we celebrated again and celebrated Olga's birthday. The remaining steaks were distributed to the dolphins, sharks, and other fish attracted by our light. On the 24th, we went snorkeling one last time and then disembarked in the port of Airlie Beach around 11 am.
