The second part of Yale we explore this morning. The numerous individual colleges are lined up next to each other. We want to visit the Law School. It is also summer vacation here, so most of the buildings are closed.
The Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library was particularly impressive, which is also located on the university campus. From the outside, it looks very modern to protect the folios and other rarities from excessive sunlight and to have the right temperature to protect them from decay.
This library is exceptional - it contains 4 million books - the oldest one from 1740, manuscripts even older - the Gutenberg Bible can also be admired here. We were very impressed!
Then we take the ferry from Bridgeport (New Haven) to Port Jefferson (Long Island). In just over an hour, we arrive in Port Jefferson and drive to Hampton Bays where we stay in a motel.
Here is the view from our room.
.... this is how you could wake up every morning......
Long Island is a long peninsula, the weekend paradise for New Yorkers. It has two arms, after our arrival we drive to one western tip of the island - to Montauk, where we go to the lighthouse.
