Through raging waters and in dark caves

Wotae: 24.09.2021

On Wednesday, our canoe rafting tour on the Mrežnica River was scheduled. We hadn't even sat in the canoe properly when we went down the first few meters of a waterfall. Besides the beautiful landscape, the absolute highlight was a 7.5m high waterfall - and yes, after some hesitation, we overcame our fear and actually jumped down! What an experience! After about 2.5 hours, we were completely exhausted and treated ourselves to a big break after a delicious picnic in the afternoon.

The next day, we went underground - into the Barač Caves, which were used for defense in wars as early as the 15th century. Today, they serve as a habitat for countless bats, some of which even made an appearance in the cave. In the end, there was a short demonstration of absolute darkness - impressive and frightening at the same time - before we returned to daylight.

From there, we visited the picturesque historic city center of Rastoke in the city of Slunj.
