The Teufelsberg. In the midst of Berlin Grünewald, the rubble mountain rises 120 meters high. It was piled up shortly after the Second World War with the debris of destroyed Berlin. It gets its name from the nearby Teufelssee. On the mountain are the distinctive buildings of an air surveillance and listening station of the US armed forces from the Cold War era. After the military's withdrawal, the facility was used as a flight safety station for several years. The buildings have been empty since 1999. And yet they are still full of life.
I have rarely seen a place in the capital that fascinated me as much as this one. In the midst of so much greenery, Berlin shows its quiet and mysterious side.
But how can one describe this place? Colorful.
Chaotic and colorful.
