Once again, it's time for us to pack up and move on. The ferry from Brestova to Cres departs at 12:45 pm. When we start driving in Tar, the navigation system shows an arrival time in Brestova at 12:32 pm. So, it's a tight schedule and we need to step on the gas to catch the ferry. We make it and pay 53 euros for a 20-minute ride to the island.
Cres is a barren island with beautiful coves, wild sheep, blooming sage, and countless olive groves. It feels like there is only one road that runs lengthwise across the island. We drive for about 30 minutes to Camp Kovacine. I instantly fall in love with this place. There are beautiful pitches here and it's not as crowded. We choose a spot right by the sea and next to a playground. There are several small olive trees on our pitch that provide shade.
We set up camp and jump into the sea. The water here is crystal clear again.
There is a diving school just 50 meters away, so Tobi can go diving again in the next few days to reach his 200 dives.
Leonora makes friends with an older Croatian lady. She crawls from our blanket over to her. The lady takes her on her lap and they play for a while. Soon, my men are hungry, so we walk along the waterfront towards Cres. We find a nice restaurant and sit there for a while.
At sunset, we walk back slowly and stop at a bar to have another beer. Meanwhile, Marik plays in a designated area with sand and sand toys. Compared to Istria, time seems to pass much slower here. It's not as hectic and people are much more relaxed. We are happy that we didn't go to Venice and found this oasis of tranquility.
