So, this week it's really starting. 1 week across Canada. We start in Montreal and our destination is Timmins. With some delay, we started, 850 km lie ahead of us. Please consider that we can/may only drive at a maximum speed of 90 km/h. That's right, we will drive at least 9 1/2 hours if we don't take a break. But we also have to go through towns and so on.
Only left and right trees, in between gigantic still frozen lakes, which are hardly marked on the map here in Canada. It is possible to overtake a truck that has loaded an adjoining apartment. On the journey we had initially 21 degrees with glorious sunshine. Then after a few hours the first necessary short break. It is still being told with satisfaction how lucky we are with the weather, it would be stupid if it rained, etc.
Back in the car and continue. And within half an hour it actually turned completely unexpectedly. It got dark, it started to rain heavily and the temperature dropped by 18 degrees to a miserable 3 degrees Celsius.
Even though the sign indicating possible moose came several times at the roadside, unfortunately we didn't see any. But we had 2 near-collisions with birds; it was close.
It got later, it got drier and freer in the sky and a fantastic final spurt built up in front of us. The sky seemed to be on fire and we drove straight into it. That was really spectacular. Around 10 pm we arrived at the hotel, slightly exhausted. Since breakfast, we haven't eaten anything except some jerk for hunger; so we practically drove through.
The room was also amazing. With a hallway, furnished anteroom and 2 huge beds. In terms of space, 1 room would have been enough for the 4 of us, but everyone got their own and settled in. At Jan-Jan's, there was a little evening beer as a substitute for dinner, and eventually we went to bed. Breakfast tomorrow should be at 8 am again for our trip to Thunder Bay - the place already sounds cool.
