Actually, Valle de Luna, Valle de la Muerte, and the Cordillera de la Sal were on today's agenda, but our car didn't seem to be up for it. A lot of errors flashed on the display and didn't want to disappear. However, since we had planned to visit the geysers on 'El Patio' tomorrow (over 4300 m), we were not very happy with this situation. We made many phone calls to the car rental company. The car had to be checked at a workshop in Calama (about 100 km away) that day. Luckily, everything was okay, and we were able to visit Valle de la Luna just in time for sunset. The landscape there resembles the surface of the moon, hence the name. Brown rocks, hardly any vegetation, and isolated areas full of salt. We climbed up the highest dune at sunset and were able to capture these wonderful pictures there. An unforgettable experience!
