All good things come in threes... at least

Welcome back...

As you can imagine, this year's vacation planning was a bit chaotic. Besides personal obligations, we didn't know where we would be allowed to travel due to a virus. After thinking it over and regularly checking the travel guidelines from the Foreign Office, we decided to go on vacation despite the circumstances. We had to give up our original plan to go to the Pyrenees (high-risk area), but we were able to work on some long overdue projects instead. We quickly put together a plan and packed our bags. The pets were entrusted to caring hands, for which we are always grateful, as well as to everyone who offered their help. However, even before we left and could start our vacation with a relaxed day at the spa, Lotti twisted her ankle and a visit to the specialist revealed that her hiking boots would remain luggage for the first part of the trip.

So on Friday, October 2nd, we calmly headed to Nuremberg, where we spent the first cozy and culinary delicious evening with Mareike. The next morning, we had a (unfortunately) scaled-down city tour and a small refreshment before heading to Graz, Austria. The weather was crazy: bright sunshine in front of the tunnel, pouring rain behind it. Karsi and Willie safely brought Gunther and Lotti to their destination. Then, with Aunt Karsta, we went to the Styrian Wine Route for fantastic views of the vineyards in Slovenia and Austria, Sturm (Lotti knows this as Federweißer) and Brettljause. We also visited the old town of Graz with sufficient breaks for Lotti. On Tuesday morning, we headed south, through the beautiful mountains in South Tyrol to Venice. On the way there, we immediately recognized Triglav in Slovenia from 2018 - its snow-covered peak peeked out among the other, flatter mountains.

Now we are exploring Venice for the next few days on 3 legs and 2 crutches. Lotti certainly doesn't have an easy time with all the bridges and stairs and narrow streets, but she is doing very well and we are enjoying the (mandatory) breaks filled with Aperol Spritz, delicious pastries, espresso, and gelato, as well as the bright sunshine and impressive architecture. You can already see the first impressions in the pictures. Besides sightseeing, we also have to think about the rest of the trip.

We are happy to have you with us again and hope for great stories. The most important thing: No, St. Mark's Square is not underwater.
