Über Tafí del Valle nach San Miguel de Tucumán

After two relaxing days in Cafayate, I continue by bus to the historic town of San Miguel de Tucumán, which is 230 km away. Halfway there, I make a stop in Tafí del Valle, a mountain village located at around 2,000 meters, which is supposed to be particularly beautiful. The landscape around the village is indeed very inviting, and you can make wonderful excursions in the surroundings. The village itself is quickly explored, there are many souvenir shops and some restaurants, most of which only open around 8 PM. When I arrive in San Miguel de Tucumán, I am literally overwhelmed by the heat when getting off the bus, even though it is almost midnight. The city is rightly nicknamed the 'oven'. As I walk to my accommodation, the hot wind blows the garbage towards me, which is scattered everywhere. Plastic bags swirl through the air, and you have to be careful where you step. However, the center, where my hotel is also located, is very nice, with a main square surrounded by beautiful buildings. Before the Spanish conquest, the area was strongly influenced by the Inca culture, and Tucumán is also known as the cradle of Argentine independence. The next day, after a few relaxing hours by the hotel pool, I discover the town with its history and, not least, its pond, where local families seem to love fishing on Sundays.
