Anne's anticipation of the caminho

Anne is already very excited and wanted to set off today - so we set off as a group of four. We crossed the city bridge and arrived in Tui, Spain. We wanted to visit the Cathedral of Tui and also check out the best route for tomorrow.

The Cathedral was very impressive - a masterpiece of Gothic architecture with beautiful biblical designs on the altar, windows, and chapels inside.

There wasn't much else to see in Tui and we couldn't find the tiled facades here either.

Although people on both sides traditionally feel very connected, there are hardly any architectural similarities between Valenca on one side (Portugal) and Tui on the other side (Spain) of the Minho River.

By the way, Valenca's old town is located on a hill surrounded by two gigantic city walls - everything is still very well preserved, so we could easily imagine how life must have been like in the Middle Ages. When we want to get to our accommodation, we always have to pass through the city walls - it's especially exciting when the cars just fit through the gates - that's precision work 😀

The old town center is like a living museum - every day there are crowds of buses arriving here and many people come through the gates to go shopping - for the Spanish, it seems to be a shopping paradise for clothes, shoes, children's items, tablecloths, carpets, etc. 😀

And of course, there is also the famous rooster, which we already know from Barcelos, in all variations.

We are excited about the region of Galicia, which we will explore tomorrow.

Sophie and Stefan will start their journey home in the morning.
