We applied online to an advertisement to do woofing with a family and were invited for an 'interview' and got the job. We can live and eat there for 20 hours of gardening work per week. Bicycle and kayak rental are included. The Pressman family is originally from the USA but has been living in New Zealand for 14 years. Leanne has her own organization that brings fun to science for children in the region and helps them with career choices. Alex has his own company that produces fertilizers using an invasive type of seagrass. The two children, Josh (18) and Hannah (16), go to school. The family lives in a very large and luxurious house with a heated pool and a beautiful view of the mountains and the sea.
We celebrated New Year's Eve with the family and a few friends, as well as Dennis, Andre, Jessica, and Luisa. There was a BBQ and many other delicious treats. Around 10 pm, we went to the city to welcome the new year at Trafalgar Square.
On the first day of the new year, we took a trip to Rabbit Island because a sperm whale had stranded there. Then it's time to say goodbye to the others, for now (finally). The last piece of 'home' is leaving us.
